The Greatest Gift
Hello World,
I know. I know...it's been awhile. I'm here now. :) Wow, this year has really flown by me. A few days ago, I was going through my camera roll reflecting on the past year. Sometimes it takes us awhile before we can take a moment and digest the past year. Needless to say...it was one tough year. It seemed like I was caught in thrashing waves all year with a few moments of air. There were moments that I felt the storm was over, and then another wave would hit me from an unexpected angle...reminding me that it was far from over. At times, I felt like I would be caught on under a deadly wave, and never return for air...drowning is really one of the worst ways to die in more ways than one. 2019 was my test of faith. I don't know if I passed my test, but I can say I am becoming a different person as this part of my journey comes to an end.
I had ups and downs and even more downs, but somehow God would lift me up again. He never let me go even when I messed up over and over. I must say...through each up and down...I learned something new. I have become a witness of God's love, mercy, and grace. Last year around this time, I was officially diagnosed with cancer. This year...I am wrapping up this long process with radiation and immunotherapy-alive, breathing, hopeful, and grateful. I could say the greatest gift this year was to have another chance of life...but I would be undermining the greatest gift of all. Don't get me wrong, another chance of life is a beautiful thing, quite humbling to be honest. However, I was given the greatest gift of all when someone who loved me so much gave His life so that I may live.
In the month of December, life gets crazy with all of the Christmas traditions, gift giving, dinner planning, and family. Trust me I love those things as much as the next person, but it's easy to forget the true reason of Christmas. Jesus. Jesus is the reason we unite to celebrate this holiday. The reason why a lot of us were given another chance at life. The reason we didn't continue on the path of sin. The reason we have become the people we are today. The reason we are able to go before the Lord.
JESUS CHRIST was the greatest gift to this world, so that we could receive the greatest gift of salvation. He came to rescue us from a life full of darkness, sin, and death. He came to pay the price we couldn't...He came to cleanse our sins through his blood...He came to save the world...He came just for YOU. So, as you are finishing your Christmas left overs, picking up all of the torn wrapping paper, and spending the next few hours with your family...just remember HE brought us together. Christmas Day may be over, but JESUS will remain all year. Celebrating our Savior doesn't have to end at 12am on December 26th...let's continue to celebrate Him all year. And if you've never received the greatest gift of salvation, it's never too late. It's available 24/7. Ask and you shall receive.
Merry Christmas, and may the Lord bless your homes this season.
Love,
Dayse
